Nasi Briyani, the main dish of Indian all around the world, with the colors and varieties of side dishes brings out the culture of India. It also labelled as the main dish for Indian. The Muslims of the Indian subcontinent is Nasi Briyani’s origin. However, in Singapore and Malaysia, there are few names for this dish. Of course, one of them is called Nasi Briyani while others are called Nasi Beriani, Nasi Briani and even Nasi Minyak.

 

Curious about how they made this tempting mixed rice Nasi Briyani?
In fact, Nasi Briyani is prepared with rice which also called ‘basmati’, spices, meat, eggs, fish and vegetables. The reason why Malaysian love this dish is because the aromatic flavours from the spices and unique rich taste.
The main ingredients of Nasi Briyani are condiments and spices such as garlic, onions, mint leaves, ghee, cinnamon, bat leaves, nutmeg, ginger, cumin, coriander, cumin, mace, cardamom, pepper and cloves. However, for non-vegetarian Nasi Briyani, it’s usually cooked with meat such as beef, lamb, chicken, mutton, fish or shrimp.

In Yong Peng, Johor, there is a restaurant called ‘Restoran Kari Kambing 40 Hari’ served delicious Nasi Briyani with home made curry lamb with ‘achar’ as side dish. A lot of locals loves dining in this restaurant as it also serve roti canai, fried chicken with Nasi Briyani, nasi lemak and so on. A lot of dish choices available in their restaurant’s menu. Most of the Nasi Briyani here is served with Rendang together with a glass of cold refrehing Sirap Bandung (a pink color beverage made by evaporated and condensed milk together with rose cordial syrup) to suit the taste of Malay Muslim community. In fact, most of the Nasi Briyani are served with korma,curry, salad, eggplant, dahi chutney and boiled egg. Besides, for Nasi Briyani with chicken, mutton or fish, it’s usually accompanied with hard-boiled egg and a kind of mixed vegetables and fruit called ‘achar’ (a combination of cut cucumber, onions, red chillies and pineapple).
