
What is dim sum means?
It means ‘touch the heart’. Food appreciation including morning tea dim sum is the culture for Cantonese people. This breakfast tradition has now evolved to an art of sipping Chinese tea while eating various of small dishes with steamer as plate. It was all started in Hong Kong and Guangdong province but today it has spread throughout the world even in Western countries and non-Chinese. In Malaysia, there are few halal dim sum restaurant spotted around town area.

Many restaurants start serving dim sum at five in the morning. Chinese said yum cha which means drinking tea or brunch is often enjoyed mid-morning. Due to children and teenagers wake up late in the weekend, you can see dim sum shops will be packed at around ten to eleven in the morning.
Traditional dim sum restaurants normally don’t serve dinner but instead, they open early in the morning and close early in the afternoon. However, dim sum restaurants nowadays are not the same as before, they will open throughout the day until night to satisfy the increasing demand for dim sum lovers
There are nine most popular dim sum dishes that people normally will order when they visit the restaurants.
First, pork and shrimp dumplings (Siu Mai).
Second, barbeque pork buns (Char Siu Bao).

Third, Phoenix claws (Fung Zao) or chicken feet.

Fourth, congee (Zuk).

Fifth, rice noodle rolls (Cheong Fun) with home made shrimp belacan.
Sixth, prawn dumpling (Har Gao)
Seventh, glutinous rice chicken

Eighth, egg tarts.

Ninth, steam or stir fried radish cake.
Besides these nine popular dim sum dishes, there are so many other dim sum dishes that you can try out.
